Food Bank of Lincoln administers senior food program

In the United States, 1 in 14 seniors doesn’t know where their next meal will come from, according to data from Feeding America. The Food Bank of Lincoln helps alleviate senior hunger by administering the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) in Lancaster, Otoe and Saunders counties. Through this USDA food-assistance program, eligible seniors receive monthly bags of shelf-stable foods from all the major food groups: grains, fruits and vegetables, meat and dairy.

Arbor Day Farms hosts groundbreaking ceremony for new Porter’s restaurant

Arbor Day Farm hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Porter’s restaurant and Apple House Market on Friday, June 11, 2021. Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation, said the June 11 groundbreaking offered a chance to celebrate quite a different scene from September 2020 when a fire destroyed Porter’s and damaged the Apple House Market.
