A family history breakthrough

Regular readers of this column know that I am a family historian. They also know that I inherited the project from my father in those pre-internet days of 40-plus years ago, when you actually had to write letters, cross your fingers and hope they were answered, and then hope the answer provided the information you hoped to locate.

The terms “hospice” and “palliative” are not interchangeable. Hospice care is a form of palliative care geared toward patients with terminal illnesses facing their final months or weeks of life. Palliative care, according to WebMD, aims to ease pain and provide help to people confronting a serious illness, even if it’s not necessarily life-threatening. Palliative care may include assistance for those with cancer, kidney disease, multiple sclerosis, or any number of conditions. Illnesses can make it difficult to live life fully, and palliative care is used in conjunction with other treatments to improve quality of life.

S-D-A Prom 2022

Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Public High School will host prom on April 2, 2022. The theme is Enchanted Forest. The Grand March to which the public is invited is at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 7:15 p.m. A king and queen will be crowned along with first and second attendants. Coronation will start about 8 p.m. with a dance following.
