Presented below are the candidate statements for Subdivision 4 of the Omaha Public Power District. Let’s lead off with an introduction of what an OPPD board member’s responsibilities are.
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) has released an order cancelling all poultry events across Nebraska due to highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). The order prohibits birds of any type at events including but not limited to fairs, expositions, swap meets, exotic sales and live bird auctions. The order is effective immediately and will be in effect until May 1, at which time the order will be reevaluated.

Community Invited to Tour Exhibits on April 11 Lourdes Central Catholic is excited to host the traveling educational exhibit “Anne Frank: A History for Today,” March 28 – April 13. The exhibit includes a 30-panel display and tells the story of Anne Frank’s life against the backdrop of the Holocaust and WWII.
Syracuse Boy Scout Troop 337 hosts a Court of Honors Sunday, March 27. Boy Scouts were awarded six merit badges and there were six rank advancements.
Brock and Amber Morrison of Bennet announce the birth of their daughter, Callie Rose, born on March 14, 2022, at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln. She weighed 7 lb.
Three hundred years of history in one hour. That’s what author and former News-Press reporter Jeff Barnes provided his audience at the Auburn Memorial Library on Saturday, March 26, when he presented “Contact and Conflict: Nebraska and the Indian Wars.” Using his book, “Cut in Stone, Cast in Bronze,” as a stepping-off point, Barnes took the audience through Nebraska’s Native American and colonial history, beginning with a battle that took place between French and Spanish forces 50 years before the United States became a country and taking the story through to the honoring of Chief Standing Bear and Dr.

Helpful for many people processing their grief, grief groups give participants the opportunity to connect with others who are experiencing kindred feelings of loss.
The Nebraska State Patrol completed a three-day search operation as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Linda Dillard on March 27. Although the search effort did not locate Dillard’s remains, significant ground was covered that will assist in the investigation.
