Better-Ba-C’s 4-H club had fun learning about contour line drawing after the March 4-H meeting. Leading the lesson was Pam Pfeifer. At the next meeting, club members will tie fleece blankets to donate.

SDA menus The Seedling Cafe at Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Schools will be serving the following menu next week BREAKFAST Monday, April 18: No school. Tuesday, April 19: Pancakes, sausage patty, choice of cereal, graham crackers, choice of vegetable, juice choice.
S-D-A students enjoy 2022 prom festivities
The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca High School gym was converted into a dance floor as students traded in their athletic wear for jackets, collared shirts, taffeta, sequins and heels. Around 100 students celebrated SDA prom and post prom activities Saturday, April 2, 2022.
Sample fields for soybean cyst nematode this spring
With the weather improving, you may want to consider getting your fields sampled for soybean cyst nematode (SCN) this spring if you have never sampled them or if it has been a while; especially if yields may be lower than expected or if you have areas in fields that have spots that yielded poorly. These could be hot spots for SCN. It would be good to definitely sample these areas of the field.

Otoe County Board of Commissioners meet
A Syracuse Eagle Scout project moved closer to completion during the March 29 Otoe County Board of Commissioners meeting as the board approved a $3,000 grant request from the county’s KENO fund from Robert Shanks.
Palmyra High School Drama Department Presents ‘The Sound of Music’
The Palmyra High School drama department presented ‘The Sound of Music’ March 31, April 1, and April 3 for family, friends, and the communities of Palmyra, Douglas, and Bennet. They did an excellent job considering the first full time the whole cast run through the play was the first night. Angela Iwan made delicious cookies, cupcakes, and bars for the audience to enjoy.
SDA Board hires four teachers
The Syracuse Dunbar Avoca Board of Education hired four teachers to fill positions vacated by resignations during its regular meeting on March 21. Valerie Lackey was hired to fill the 7th grade middle school math and science teaching position vacated by Mr.
Lake development proposal amended, advaned in Lincoln
Lawmakers gave second-round approval March 29 to a proposal to build several water recreation projects across the state after amending it to prohibit conflicts of interest and ensure public access to a proposed lake between Omaha and Lincoln.
