Better-Ba-C’s 4-H club had fun learning about contour line drawing after the March 4-H meeting. Leading the lesson was Pam Pfeifer. At the next meeting, club members will tie fleece blankets to donate.

Christ Lutheran marks final worship service

It is with reflective thoughts that we announce that Christ Lutheran Church (Deleware) of rural Syracuse will be gathering for their final worship service on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 9 a.m. to commemmorate the life and work of our faith community. For over 128 years, faith and service have been have been at the center of our ministry, and Christ Lutheran has served the faithful people of our community for generations. It is with precious memories that the congregation reflects upon the past and the diverse legacy of our ministry. Past members and friends are welcome to share in this event. A freewill offering will be collected at the worship service, which will be used to support the ministries of Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Family Services, and Mosaic. Refreshments will be served following the service.

Recognizing PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, was first listed as a medical diagnosis in 1980. However, it has been recognized and called by many different names throughout history. The first recorded description of PTSD is in the Epic of Gilgamesh which dates back to 2100 B.C. In The Iliad and The Odyssey, Homer wrote about Trojan War soldiers exhibiting the symptoms of PTSD. Shakespeare described a character in King Henry IV who suffered from post-traumatic nightmares.

Chamber meeting hosts Cattlemen’s Ball discussion

At the Syracuse Area Chamber of Commerce General Membership Meeting, April 4, 2022, Mark Rathe shared details about The Cattlemen’s Ball. Started in 1998, the Ball is a fundraising event to support cancer research. Goal’s for the 2022 Ball include raising two million dollars for the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, selling 4,500 tickets and recruiting at least 500 volunteers.
