Syracuse kids participated in the city’s annual Easter egg hunt at Wiliams Park on April 16. The hunt was divided into four age groups for kids from 0 to 8 years. Kids received coupons for a free Dairy Chef ice cream treat.

May will be Community Action Month in Otoe County, after the Otoe County Board of Commissioners approved a proclamation to that fact during the board’s April 12 meeting. Southeast Nebraska Community Action (SENCA) Development Director Susan Keholm requested the proclamation from the board as part of her annual report on SENCA activities in Otoe County and southeast Nebraska.
Syracuse Area Junior Girl Scout Troop 20835 is working towards earning a Bronze Award. During the regular meeting of the Syracuse City Council, four girls in the troop presented their take action project to the mayor and council members. They are proposing an ADA Swing Seat for the Williams Park Playground. The total cost of the swing is $607.15.

Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) has honored the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) Carrier Enforcement Division with a national award. On Friday, April 15, TAT Deputy Director Kylla Lanier presented NSP with the 2022 Truckers Against Trafficking Champion Award, in the state agency category.
The meeting was called to order by Commander Reed at 7:30 P.M. with 8 members present. Sgt. At Arms Gerry Davis offered the opening prayer followed by Commander Reed leading members in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble.
