Tender, Summer Flowering Bulbs for Nebraska Gardens

In any discussion of ‘bulb’ plants, the most important distinction to make is between hardy and tender bulbs. Hardy bulbs, including tulip, daffodil, crocus, ect., are planted in the fall and can be overwintered in the ground. Tender bulbs, like gladiola, dahlia and canna, are planted in the spring and must be dug up each fall; they are not cold tolerant enough to survive in the ground during winter.

Hendricks graduates

Frankie Hendricks will graduate from Colorado State University on Friday, May 13, 2022, with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. Earlier that day, Hendricks will receive her commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force and will be stationed at Aviano NATO Air Force Base, Italy, as an aircraft maintenance officer.

Unusual?

Saturday I remarked within grandson Dustin’s hearing that I thought this was a very unusual spring. Dustin laughed and said “Grandma – I think you say that every spring!” Maybe I do, but I do believe this spring of 2022 is the strangest one I have experienced in my 91 encounters with the season.
