Ricketts proclaims May as Beef Month in Nebraska

Governor Pete Ricketts has proclaimed May as “Beef Month” in Nebraska during a May 2 ceremony at the State Capitol. He was joined by Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) Director Steve Wellman, Nebraska Beef Council Chairman George Cooksley, and Nebraska Cattlemen President Brenda Masek. At the news conference, Gov. Ricketts encouraged Nebraskans to take part in the 2022 Good Life Great Steaks Beef Passport program organized by the Nebraska Beef Council.

Nebraska Wesleyan to offer four new majors beginning in fall

Nebraska Wesleyan will offer four new undergraduate majors beginning fall 2022: data analytics, digital marketing, financial planning and project management. These majors will feature the traditional Nebraska Wesleyan experience with select online courses taught by national experts. Online courses are offered through NWU’s membership in a consortium of fellow Council of Independent Colleges members.

Arbor Day tree planting at Capitol

Dr. Orval Gigstad, president of the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts board of directors and Nemaha Natural Resources District board member, was part of a group that planted a tree at the state capitol in Lincoln for Arbor Day. Kyle Hauschild, general manager of the Nemaha NRD, was also part of the tree-planting group in Lincoln and later in Nebraska City, where the Nemaha NRD celebrated its 50th anniversary by planting a Norway spruce on the lawn of the mansion at Arbor Lodge State Historical Park.
