In traveling around southeast Nebraska I am seeing a number of trees in the area showing signs of iron chlorosis. This is the condition when the leaves of trees are more yellow than normal. In the environmental conditions southeast Nebraska has experienced in recent years, trees have been under a great deal of stress.
Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca High School graduated 39 students at commencement on Saturday, May 7, 2022. The Syracuse Symphonic Band led by Brandy Hall played Pomp and Circumstance as seniors entered the middle school gym and took their seats at the 134th annual commencement.
Weather permitting, work will begin May 23 on N-2, from reference post 500 to reference post-502, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. International Road Dynamics Inc., of Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada, has the contract.
Two Otoe County residents will receive their degrees during the spring commencement exercises at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Ravin Baker of Nebraska City and Emma Porter of Unadilla will be among 682 spring graduates who will be recognized at commencement exercises at 10 a.m.
I have no doubt that as readers of the Nebraska City News Press read my “DOGMA BUSTIN’” op-ed’s they will conclude that I do not support the dogma of Nebraska governor, Pete Ricketts or his kind.
The senior students at Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca High School honored Michael Jackson, SDA custodian, with a gift on the students’ last day. The gift was a pair of Nike Jordan’s in Rocket colors. Wayne State College hosted spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 7, at the college’s Willow Bowl amphitheater. A total of 618 degrees--419 undergraduate and 199 graduate--were conferred by college presient Marysz Rames during commencement ceremonies.
