Check fields, pastures for weed problems

Gary Lesoing, Extension Educator Late summer, fall and harvest are good times to check out where you may have a problem with specific weeds or where a new weed is invading or possibly even herbicide resistance is developing. By identifying the weed, extent of any infestations and locations of weed problems, you will have a better strategy for managing these weeds in the future, maybe even this fall.

FirstBank Nebraska provides lunch for S-D-A Teachers & Staff

First Bank Nebraska provided lunch to around 100 Syracuse Dunbar Avoca teachers, staff, support staff and administrators on Monday, Aug. 8, in the Middle School Commons area. The back-to-school luncheon is a 20-year tradition with bank employees organizing and serving the lunch. The main entrée was pulled pork from M&K Meats in Unadilla. Teachers’ first day was Aug. 8 and after an open house on Tuesday, Aug. 9, students returned to school on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022 for their first day of classes. TOPICS TO BE COVERED IN THE 3.5-HOUR WORKSHOP INCLUDE: Am I keeping the farm or selling it? What is the farm worth – from sale or rental income? How do I manage a farm? If leasing, what are key lease provisions? Now that I own land, how does that change my estate plan? And how do we manage family communications and expectations when other family is involved? Auburn at 4-H Building/Fairgrounds, 10:00 registration, 10:30 program starts – done by 2:00 p.m.
