Rural Nebraskans are concerned about water quality and water contamination affecting their own or their family’s health, according to the 2022 Nebraska Rural Poll. Two-thirds of respondents to the poll — an annual survey of rural Nebraskans conducted by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln — say they are “somewhat concerned,” “concerned” or “very concerned” about contaminants in their water supply impacting their health.

The Otoe County 4-H Achievement Celebration took place on Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Kimmel Event Center.

The traffic pattern on the US-34/75 construction project has shifted to head-to-head operations on the newly constructed northbound lanes, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Additional road closures on the west side of US34/75 include West Side Drive, West Wiles Road, West Church Road and Waverly Road.

I was with a buddy, and said, “I’m exercising with my kids, getting good rest, but I got one thing.” “What is it?” he replied. “Well, I love a fresh hot cup of coffee in the morning...” “Yeah...” Then I said, “But with my coffee, I like to have two donut sticks.” My reserved friend piped up and exclaimed, “You eat those!?!” “Yeah, it’s just two little donut sticks.” “Dude! Aren’t those like 95 percent lard?” I thought to myself, “I don’t know, and I really don’t want to know.” The next morning I did the very thing that I know I had been fighting for a year.

On November 5th, the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building Project celebrated its accomplishments with its 1st Annual Gala. The Annual Gala was established to acknowledge the many donors and volunteers and to raise funds to ensure sustainability long into the future.

It was bound to happen. Nothing lasts forever I have been told.

This year nearly 250,000 patients will be diagnosed with lung cancer and 130,000 will die from it. In SD, 660 people will be diagnosed and over 400 will die from the disease. Lung cancer accounts for the most cancer deaths in both the US and in SD.
