A Trunk or Treat was held in the Otoe Park Sunday, October 27, 2025 3-5 p.m. Nearly 200 trick or treaters visited the 20 trunks. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Otoe provided a meal. In its fourth year, the event is organized by Angela Parsons and Penny Trueblood who started the event because they did not get trick or treaters at their houses. Together they decorated the park, hosted a trunk and made sure everyone had a great time.

At the October meeting of the Syracuse American Legion Post 100 hosted a Flag Disposal Ceremony at the Post Home. Legion members were assisted by Boy Scout Troop 337 during a ceremony in front of approximately 30 spectators. After the ceremony a meal was served after which some of this year’s Cornhusker Girls and Boys State participants spoke about their experiences at this year’s sessions.

Students and instructors from 39 high schools met near Wahoo to compete in State Land Judging Oct. 22, 2025. The Lower Platte North Natural Resources District (NRD) hosted this year’s competition.

Syracuse Middle School teachers used a creative approach to inspire students to learn about World War I history.

Gerri Harden, administrator of Good Samaritan Society – Linden View Assisted Living in Syracuse, was presented with the Administrator of the Year Award by the Nebraska Nursing Facility Association (NNFA) and Nebraska Assisted Living Association (NALA).

The Syracuse Music Boosters will host the first Syracuse Music Boosters Craft Show Saturday, November 15th at the high school from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a bake sale, raffle and over 30 crafters and vendors. The proceeds will go towards the Music Boosters scholarship and to purchase a wrap for the band trailer.
