Donald Gray of rural Louisville, has retired from his position on the Otoe County Rural Water District No. 3 Board of Directors. Don joined the Board on Jan. 28, 1980, and was officially elected to the position of Secretary in January of 2013,a position he occupied until April of this year.

A retirement reception was held Wednesday, June 4, at the Otoe County Courthouse for Otoe County Surveyor Dave Schmitz, who retired this month. Schmitz became the county surveyor in 1994. The Otoe County Board of Commissioners hired Dan Thomson of Palmyra to fulfill Schmitz’s term of service, which expires in 2026.

Four Otoe County residents have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2025 semester at the University of Nebraska, Kearney.
Dr. Kerstin Beach recently received the First Lady Award from Peggy Britton, member of Syracuse Preceptor Tau of Beta Sigma Phi. The First Lady award is presented annually to a local individual who exemplifies the trait of service to our community. Dr. Beach is currently retired, but previously served the Syracuse community as a family physician for 27 years.
