Bennet Elementary teacher is state finalist for national award

A Bennet Elementary teacher is among the state finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), the nation’s highest honor for K–12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teachers.Thomas McChristian, a fifth-grade teacher from Bennet Elementary in Palmyra District OR-1, Megan Mullen from Paxton Consolidated Schools, and Miranda Orellana from Riley Elementary, Lincoln Public Schools, will represent Nebraska.This year applicants from K – 6 mathematics, science, technology, engineering and/or computer science classrooms could apply.

Nemaha NRD park permits available for 2024

The Nemaha Natural Resources District has 2024 park permits for sale.Permits may be purchased online, at the NNRD office at 62161 Highway 136 in Tecumseh, or at the entry of an individual park.Valid annual park permits are required for entry into Iron Horse Trail Lake near DuBois, Kirkman’s Cover Recreation Area near Humboldt, Wirth Brothers Recreation Area near Tecumseh, Duck Creek Recreation Area near Auburn, or Prairie Owl Recreation Area near Dunbar.No permit is required to use the Steamboat Trace Trail from south of Nebraska City to Brownville.Annual permits are $15, or single-day permits may be purchased for $5.
