Youth wrestlers in grades K-8 will be featured at the third annual Battle on the Bricks, an Aug. 10 dual event which serves as a fundraiser for Syracuse Mat Club.

The event, which is set for 6 p.m., will be hosted on 5th Street in Syracuse with youth wrestlers from the Syracuse Mat Club taking on “The Outsiders” a team which consists of wrestlers from Conestoga, Weeping Water, Waverly, Nebraska City and Plattsmouth.

Admission is $5. Once inside the gates, attendees are able to purchase BBQ from The Laughing Boar Food Truck, Frios Gourmet Pops, and drinks from a beer garden provided by The Beer Stein.

The Syracuse Mat Club is a youth wrestling organization in Syracuse offering wrestling practice and competition for ages pre-k through 8th grade.

Syracuse Mat Club practices from November through mid-March.

The season culminates with the NEUSA State Tournament in Grand Island each year. Funds raised at this event and the yearly tournament are used to provide scholarships to youth and high school wrestlers.

The Syracuse Mat Club also purchases and donates equipment for the high school wrestling team at Syracuse High School.
