Obituaries
Barbara Jean Witt, born December 23, 1936, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2022, in Kansas City, Missouri, after spending her last days surrounded by her family. She was married and extremely devoted to her husband, Dwayne, for 67 years and they loved each other dearly. She was proud to be a farm wife from Unadilla, Nebraska, working the farm actively alongside Dwayne. She handled a tractor or truck with the best of them, even in her youth, winning the Otoe County 4-H competition and finishing runner up at the state competition. She always made sure there was plenty of food and “O henry bar” treats in the kitchen. She was an avid and very good golfer, competitive, yet greatly treasured the many friends she met on the golf course. She was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan of all sports, sure to wear her red on game day. She was most proud of being involved in the opening and operation of the Syracuse Thrift Store, a member of the Syracuse Auxiliary and in helping lead the Syracuse band on their trip to California. She was a lifelong member of Lutheran Memorial Church. Barbara is survived by her husband Dwayne, sons Tim (Rita) Witt of Overland Park, Kansas and David (Wendi) Witt of Lyman, South Carolina. She was extremely proud of and dearly loved her grandsons Erik, Travis (deceased), Brian, Brent Dolson and her only great granddaughter Kezlei Dolson. She is also survived by her younger brother Fred (Marilyn) Wallen of Golden, Colorado. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Edith Wallen, her older sister Carol Dankleff and her grandson Travis Witt. She will be missed by her family and all of her friends who can attest that there was never a lull in the conversation with Barb, as she truly liked people. She enjoyed a good party, family get together, or any chance to have friends come over to her house. She loved people and helping others. God has now gained another angel!
