S-D-A Elementary School started Random Acts of Kindness Week off with a special activity over lunch recess. Students and staff wrote or drew a kind act they were going to do on a slip of paper, and the papers were combined to form a long paper chain of kindness.

A schedule of 2023 National Weather Service Storm Spotter training classes has been updated to include current locations for the events in Fremont and Otoe counties. The Fremont County, Iowa, Spotter Talk is set for 7 to 9 p.m.
Sand volleyball enthusiasts in Syracuse will soon have an improved playing area, thanks to a memorial fundraising effort by a local family. The family of Morgan Hallstrom asked for and received $11,500 from the City of Syracuse after the family had funds remaining in a memorial account they had set up to honor their daughter, who passed away in 2019.
Cy Petersen earned his way to the finals and Barret Brandt ran off four straight wins to grab a medal during action at the Nebraska Scholastic Activities Association State Wrestling Championships at the CHI Health Center in Omaha from Thursday, Feb. 16, to Saturday, Feb. 18.
