NSP arrests man in child exploitation investigation Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol Tech Crimes Unit, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), have arrested a Lincoln man after a child exploitation investigation. On Thursday, April 6, NSP performed a search warrant at the residence of 2305 South 35th Street, in Lincoln.

Rocket track first, third at NC Invite

The Rocket track teams competed at the Nebraska City Invite on Thursday, April 6. Under ideal track conditions, the Rocket girls’ team won the meet and the boys’ team placed third. The Rockets host the Scott Nisley Track meet on Thursday, April 13. The field events begin at 10:00 a.m. and running events start at noon. Easter Egg Hunt

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt was held at Williams Park in Syracuse Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 4 p.m. The event was sponsored by the Syracuse Snoflakers, Syracuse Area Chamber of Commerce, FirstBank of Nebraska, Dairy Chef, Syracuse Area Health and Western National Bank. Syracuse Market contributed a portion of the candy. Snoflakers rep Lindsay Tuxhorn was the chairperson for the event and was helped by many volunteers. Participants were divided into four age groups 0-2 years old; 3 years to pre-kindergarten; kindergarten and first grade; and 2nd and 3rd grades and over 3,600 items were available. Items included candy eggs, money eggs, candy items and juice boxes. All participants received a coupon for ice cream at Dairy Chef. Two thousand nine hundred and ninety eggs were stuffed with the help of FirstBank of Nebraska, the North Branch Rancheros 4-H group and Kaylee and Kendall Meyer. The Easter Bunny made a guest appearance.

Rocket golfers shoot at Bay Hills

The Syracuse boys’ golf team played at Bay Hills in Plattsmouth on Monday, April 3. Gabe Dilley led the Rockets with a score of 93 (50-43) and placed 12th. Rounding out the roster included Logan Zoller 97, Cody Damme 100, Robert Shanks 102, and Brennan Schroeder 112. The team placed 5th. Team Results: Elkhorn North 332, Wahoo 378, Roncalli 379, Ashland 388, Syracuse 392, David City 408, Nebraska City 413, Louisville 423, Plattsmouth 426, and Platteview 444.

Say ‘yes’ to Arbor Day with these activities

Ahead of National Arbor Day, held this year on April 28, the Arbor Day Foundation is reminding people of the many ways they can show their appreciation for nature through tree-related activities. “As we prepare to plant our 500 millionth tree as an organization, we’re reflecting on all the ‘yeses’ that made that a reality,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation.

The Old Avoca Schoolhouse workshops scheduled

The Old Avoca Schoolhouse in Avoca, Nebraska will be streaming three on line “Ukrainian Music Workshops” for soprano recorder players, alto recorder players, fiddlers, violists, cellists, bassists, and mandolinists.
