Correction

In last week’s story about the Lourdes Central Catholic musical performers’ accolades at the District Music competition, we inadvertently left out the accomplishments of the Women’s Ensemble, which received a Superior rating and an Outstanding Performance Award.

A Legislative Victory

Last week, the U.S. Senate passed my resolution protecting truckers and consumers. The legislation would overturn a Biden administration rule that makes emissions standards stricter for heavy-duty vehicles like trucks. This aggressive rule, released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), would force truckers to purchase new, expensive equipment to abide by a radical climate agenda — which would burden our economy as a whole.

Syracuse students pick up medals at Skills USA

Syracuse High School students received medals at the SkillsUSA 2023 State Leadership and Skills Conference in Grand Island April 13-15,. Jackson Nordhues received a Gold in Bridge Building SR; Cody Damme received a Silver in Bridge Building SR and the Quiz Bowl Team of Caleb Caudill, Ryan Damme and Bryson Jones placed third.

Rocket golf plays Plattsmouth, Woodland Hills

The Syracuse boys’ golf team started last week with a home, 9-hole dual against Plattsmouth on Tuesday, April 25. With many of the usual varsity starters not competing, many reserves stepped in. Freshman Brennan Schroeder placed third with a 49. Jack Kreifels and Mason Jording both shot 54 to tie for third. Rounding out the varsity squad were Ryan Damme with a 58 and Jace Stinson with a 61. The varsity team lost 201-215.
