Kreifels to serve on NAYCin Lincoln

Madison Kreifels of Syracuse has been named to the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Council (NAYC). The 21 college students who serve on NAYC are chosen by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) to share their passion and knowledge about agriculture with young people across Nebraska.

Standing in the front of her classroom, Lindsay Hastings pointed to different leadership styles written on the board. The class was ALEC 202, Foundations of Leadership Theory and Practice. While Hastings and her students discussed how the leadership styles varied, one thread tied them together — a belief that effective leaders inspire hope.

Everyone have a safe Thanksgiving holiday and weekend. A million Thanks to Karin Chaffin for organizing the Christmas gifts for the Backpack Program since 2008 for District OR-1 through the local churches.

County 4-H leaders recognized for service

Otoe County 4-H leaders were recognized for 10, 15, 20 and 35 years of leadership at the annual Otoe County 4-H Achievement Celebration, said Erin Steinhoff, 4-H Extension assistant. Those honored include: 35 years: Cheryl Hobbie.

Reflect with gratitude this holiday

In September 1620, the Mayflower set sail from Plymouth, England, bound for the New World. The ship’s 102 passengers and 30 crew members – an eclectic mix of religious families fleeing persecution and single men seeking to become landowners on a new continent – had one thing in common: They hoped that better lives were waiting for them at the other end of the sea.
