Cellular Advantage opens new US Cellular location

Former Nebraska City resident Kayla Riaski, district manager for Cellular Advantage, prepares to cut the ribbon during the grand opening of the US Cellular store on South 11th Street Oct. 19. The store, located at 1106 Grundman Blvd., offered product specials and events to promote its opening and to welcome customers to the new store. Raymond ”Tom” B. Royal

Raymond “Tom” B. Royal, 95 of Syracuse, passed away on February 20, 2022, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. He was born on March 2, 1926, to Herman & Elizabeth (Kempkes) Royal near Palmyra. On August 14, 1947, he married Marion Whitehead at St. Paulinus Catholic Church. Tom was a lifelong farmer in Otoe county, which brought him immense joy.

Syracuse communuity enjoys new bathhouse opening

The new bathhouse at the Syracuse Aqua Center opened in 2021 after renovations were made and not opening in 2020 because of COVID, making possible an exciting summer for the community. The construction of a new bathhouse became the focus of a six-person committee after noticing that the old building was in poor conditions with holes in the structure giving access to animals.

Grad) - 11th long jump, 17’7”; 4th triple jump 36’6 ¼” Maddie Moran, Nebraska Wesleyan University (‘18 JCC Grad) - 3rd 60m, 7.59 seconds, places her #1 in Division III track and field in the event and a new NWU school record.

Palmyra wrestlers compete at state wrestling meet

The Eagle Has Landed!

Yesterday morning on my way to church I saw something I didn’t dream I would ever see. There, in the roadside ditch sat a regal bald eagle enjoying a breakfast opossum! I had heard there had been some sightings in our immediate area but didn’t think I would see one so close up and personal.

Tax relief: Giving back the people’s money

What should happen with extra tax revenues? That’s the main question being debated this session by state senators. For me, the answer is obvious. The money should be given back to the hardworking Nebraskans who paid those taxes in the first place.
