Nebraska ag land values up 16 percent, according to university-led survey

The value of agricultural land in Nebraska increased by an average of 16 percent over the prior year, to a statewide average of $3,360 per acre, according to the preliminary findings of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s 2022 Farm Real Estate Market Survey. This marks the largest increase in the market value of agricultural land in the state since 2014 and is the highest non-inflation-adjusted statewide land value in the history of the survey.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Deborah (Deb) Jane Nannen Blom, age 70 of Windsor, Colorado. She passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022.

Rocket track programs moving back to Class B

This season the Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca boys’ and girls’ track teams will be the smallest school to compete in Class B for districts and state after competing in Class C last season. Veteran Coach Rick Nordhues, who is heading up the girls’ program for the seventh year and the boys’ program for the 27th year, is familiar with the situation having led state team titles in Class B for the girls’ squad in 2018 and 2019.

Rocket golf will look to youth to lead 2022 team

Without any seniors on the Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca High School boys’ golf team, many of the younger shooters will be looked to for leadership under fourthyear head coach Micah Buller. S-D-A has 16 golfers with six juniors, six sophomores, and four freshmen.

Palmyra golfers’ practice looks to pay off in 2022

Cheaper golf may lead to better golf for the Palmyra boys’ team this spring as shooters were able to get out on the course over the offseason and get in a lot practice. Coach Aaron Hoeft said a special deal was available that allowed his players to hit the links at select courses for just $5 to $10 a round.

Saving mom’s lives through better broadband

In an era of partisanship and polarization, compromise can be hard to come by. Bills that can garner enough support to clear the U.S. Senate’s 60-vote threshold for legislation are the exception, not the norm. It is even more rare to find a bill that all 100 members of the Senate can get behind, but we recently did just that when the Senate voted unanimously to pass my Data Mapping to Save Moms’ Lives Act.
