Traveling the Third

While traveling in the Third District in recent weeks, I have been encouraged by the expertise and creativity our communities possess and sobered by the challenges we face. We have much to be thankful for, but there is also no shortage to the adversity we must overcome.

SDA conducts 2022 graduation ceremony

Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca High School graduated 39 students at commencement on Saturday, May 7, 2022. The Syracuse Symphonic Band led by Brandy Hall played Pomp and Circumstance as seniors entered the middle school gym and took their seats at the 134th annual commencement.

Rocket golfers shoot at conference meet

The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca boys’ golf team competed at the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament at River Wilds Golf Course north of Blair on Friday, May 6. It was hosted by Fort Calhoun. The boys place fifth with a team score of 372. Yutan won the tournament with a score of 330.

Rockets break records at Capitol Conference meet

The Rocket track teams traveled to Yutan on Tuesday, May 3, for the Nebraska Capitol Conference meet. Senior Kennedy Stanley continues to break records in the pole vault. This time clearing 10’6. Senior Lily Vollertsen broke the record in the shot put with a toss of 43’. The girls’ team finished as runner-up with 108 points to the champion Arlington with 124 points. The boy’s’ team took fourth place and was highlighted by a firstplace finish in the discus by senior Jace Voorhees, 142’.

Tax Relief Wins for Nebraska
