Is it my thyroid?

Hypothyroidism, the condition of the thyroid gland not making enough thyroid hormone, is a common hormonal disorder. Perhaps because hypothyroidism is common and its symptoms can be widespread and vague, misconceptions abound. Let’s cover the facts. Symptoms of hypothyroidism can include fatigue, dry skin, weight gain, and hair loss. These symptoms can occur for many other reasons, so fortunately a very simple blood test can tell us whether an underactive thyroid is the culprit.

Gold Medal Finish

Syracuse SkillsUSA participates in state championships

On April 7 through 9, more than 1,300 students from across the state converged in Grand Island at the Heartland Events Center and Fonner Park to compete in the 2022 SkillsUSA Nebraska Championships. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.

William H. Werner

William “Bill” H. Werner, 68 of Syracuse, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. He was born on May 26, 1953, to Harold & Phyllis (Petersen) Werner in Syracuse. Bill attended Dist. 38 country school and graduated from Syracuse high school. After graduation he attended Milford Community College and worked for Gartner Construction. He later worked for many years on the receiving docks at Dillards.

PSC men’s basektball to host August offensive skills camp

Peru State men’s basketball head coach Bob Ludwig recently announced that the men’s basketball program will be hosting an Offensive Skills Camp Monday, August 1, through Wednesday, August 3. The camp will be for boys in the third grade through high school seniors. The camp will be from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., each day and walk in registration will be that Monday at 8:30 a.m.

Palmyra athletes compete at state meet

Kirt Manion, CherryRoad Media Drew Erhart, Kyla Davis and Kinsley Havranek represented the Palmyra track and field programs at the Class C NSAA State Track and Field Championships last week. Drew Erhart competed in the boys’ 100- and 200-meter races.
