The Syracuse Post 100 Seniors earned a split in games against DJ’s Dugout by taking a 7-6 decision against Tuesday, June 29, and falling 11-8 in a Wednesday contest. Robert Shanks went 3-for-5 at the plate in the Tuesday win.

Rocket Juniors earn second win over rival

A second victory over Otoe County rival Nebraska City on July 2 highlighted last week in baseball for the Syracuse Post 100 Juniors. Syracuse jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and added two in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth to win the contest in five innings.

Nebraska statement about USC, UCLA joining Big 10

The Big Ten Conference Council of Presidents and Chancellors voted unanimously on Thursday, June 30 to admit the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC) to the Big Ten Conference effective August 2, 2024. Competition will begin for all conference sports in the 2024-25 academic year.

Ribbon cutting caps Syracuse Girl Scout project

Syracuse Girl Scout Troop 20835 met with city Parks and Rec Staff on Wednesday, June 16, to install an ADA Swing Seat in Williams Park and formally cut a ribbon signifying the project’s completion. Other Girl Scouts and parents were also in attendance.

Rep. Smith seeks Angels in Adoption nominees by July 5

Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) opened nominations this week for the 2022 Angels in Adoption Award for Nebraska’s Third District. Angels in Adoption, a project of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, provides Members of Congress the opportunity to honor an individual or entity from their districts for extraordinary contributions on behalf of children in need of homes.
