Otoe County 4-H youth participated at the 4-H Premier Animal Science Events (PASE), in Lincoln June 22- 23. PASE consisted of 40 participating Nebraska counties and 477 individual youth entries in five livestock educational contests.
Sophia Lang of Palmyra has been named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Trinity Christian College in Palo Heights, Ill. Students on the dean’s list must maintain a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher in 12 or more graded credit hours.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is inviting the public to participate in its annual summer turkey survey July 1-Aug. 31.
Hunters may begin purchasing unlimited quota Nebraska deer and antelope permits July 11. Residents, nonresidents and eligible landowners may purchase permits through the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission starting at 1 p.m.

The 10th Nebraska Football Road Race, coordinated by the Lincoln Track Club, will be July 17. The one-mile race begins at 8 a.m.

The Syracuse Post 100 Seniors earned a split in games against DJ’s Dugout by taking a 7-6 decision against Tuesday, June 29, and falling 11-8 in a Wednesday contest. Robert Shanks went 3-for-5 at the plate in the Tuesday win.
A second victory over Otoe County rival Nebraska City on July 2 highlighted last week in baseball for the Syracuse Post 100 Juniors. Syracuse jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and added two in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth to win the contest in five innings.
