Horseradish offers spice without being harsh

If you’ve never tasted horseradish (Armoracia rusticana), then think wasabi (Wasabia japonica). These two foods have a nearly identical flavor, often described as peppery, spicy and pungent, however, the sharp taste of horseradish only lasts a short time and doesn’t sear your mouth like hot peppers do.

SCC receives three cars for Ford ASSET program

Southeast Community College’s Ford Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET) program recently purchased three new Ford vehicles from Ford Motor Company. Students will use a 2022 Ford Bronco, 2022 Ford Ranger and a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E in which to train.

Vollertsen selected for all-star game

Lily Vollertsen, a 2022 Syracuse-Dunbar Avoca graduate, has been selected to play on the red team in the 42nd Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star Game on Monday, July 25, at 6 p.m. at Lincoln Northstar High School. Vollertsen was a standout athlete at SDA and broke numerous scoring records on the basketball court.
