Rocket volleyball falls short at B-N

Lynn Wilhelm For the first time ever, the Rockets volleyball team ventured to Bishop Neumann in Wahoo on Thursday, September 6. With both teams at 2-2 for the season, they both came out strong in a back-and-forth first set.

SDA Softball Team

The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Rocket softball team competed in five games last week with clashes against Douglas County West, Ashland-Greenwood, Yutan-Mead, Cass County Central and Falls City. Counting results from those games, the team has a record of 4-12.

Rocket MS Football

The Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca middle school football team fell to Raymond Central in the A game 19-0 and, in the B game, the Rockets fell 12-8 with the touchdown being scored by Will Simon and the 2 point conversion by Wyatt Higgins. The Rockets were scheduled travel to Lincoln Lutheran on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

Robert G. Kramer

CDR Robert G. Kramer, USN (ret) Robert “Bob” Kramer passed away peacefully on August 6, 2022. Bom October 24, 1934 to Henry and Alta Kramer in Syracuse, Nebraska, he was a graduate of Syracuse High School and Peru State College.

Irene F. Kuenning

Irene F. Kuenning, 104 of Syracuse, passed away on September 13, 2022, at the Syracuse Hospital. She was bom on August 11, 1918, to William & Mary (Kastens) Genthe at their home northwest of Syracuse.

Malcolm X to be Inducted into Nebraska Hall of Fame

The Nebraska Hall of Fame Commission today selected Malcolm Little, also known as Malcolm X and El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, as the next member of the Nebraska Hall of Fame. Ron Hull, chair of the Nebraska Hall of Fame Committee said that Malcolm X’s impact is still felt today.
