Board of Ed partners with FirstBank of Nebraska

At the Syracuse Board of Education meeting on Sept. 19, representatives of FirstBank of Nebraska gave an overview of an opportunity to partner with the bank and receive funding for the school. Under the proposed opportunity, permission would be granted to put the school logo on a debit card and in exchange, the school would receive funding.

Rockets’ rush attack overpowers Tigers

A 300-yard rushing performance helped the Syracuse- Dunbar-Avoca football team run away from Falls City for a 30-8 win on Friday, September 23. Robert Shanks opened the scoring for S-D-A with a 28-yard touchdown run and Tieran Cox scored on a 49-yard touchdown run, both in the first quarter, and Gabe Dilley added point after kicks following each score to put the Rockets ahead 14-0.

Rocket VB battles No. 8 team in Class C1

On Monday, September 19, the Rocket volleyball team had another triangular, this time with Malcolm and the host Conestoga. In the first game of the night, Class C1 #8 Malcolm (14-1) beat Conestoga (4-8) in straight sets.

Baker stops Peru VB in straight sets

Baker defeated the Peru State volleyball team on Sept. 24 by scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 27-25. The loss sent Peru State’s season record to 5-11. Peru State is 2-4 in Heart of America Conference play.
