Palmyra News

I fully understand why there are and can be accidents by Casey’s on Highway 2. It’s not all about the sun in your eyes. I was in the East bound outside lane approaching the intersection – and no I was not going to turn south at the intersection – when a vehicle at the intersection pulled out in front of me, yes, going SLOW. Yes, I honked! Why would anyone pull out in front of me when there was plenty of space to SAFELY pull out behind me? Stop and think, I am driving 60- 70mph, maneuvering isn’t a split second event. If there was someone closer behind me, one of us would have been in a bad situation. This isn’t the first time this has happened to me. Our VOLUNTEER Fire and Rescue Depts. don’t need to be cleaning up that mess. Safety first. Please pay attention and WAIT your turn! Thank you.

The Other Skin Cancer

When people talk about skin cancer the type that most people think about is melanoma. This skin cancer follows the ABCDE rules for diagnosis. A – Asymmetry, B – irregular Border, C – more than 1 Color, D – Diameter more than 6 mm, and E – expanding in size. However, these rules will not help find the most common type of skin cancer called a basal cell carcinoma.

January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month

Eyesight is often taken for granted and living without it can be a challenge. Over three million Americans and over 60 million people worldwide have glaucoma, which is often referred to as “the sneak thief of sight,” because there are often no symptoms of its presence. As much as 40% of vision can be lost without a person noticing, which experts estimate is the case in half of those who suffer from glaucoma.

Rocket girls’ find scoring, dominate in wins

Syracuse 56, W-C 19 The Rockets struck early against the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines on Tuesday, January 3, in Wilber. Sophomore Jayden Meyer started the scoring at the 7:40 mark and the Wolverines didn’t see their first basket until 6:23. Juniors Eva Brammier and Rylee Seelhoff also found their stride behind the arc in the quarter as coach Andrew Pryor commented, “It was awesome to see us knock down shots and get some confidence going on the offensive end. Our defensive pressure and intensity led to some favorable scoring opportunities early on, which helped build our confidence for the rest of the game.”
