There will be a new coach for the Peru State women's golf team, but there should not be cause for concern as six golfers return for the Bobcats for the 2015-16 season. Those six golfers will be joined by three recruits who will be led by first-year college coach Mark Ritchie. Ritchie is replacing Brett Hahn who had coached the team for the past four seasons.

Returners
The team will be led by three returning juniors, all of whom earned Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) All-Conference recognition.  Marisa Pribnow (Lincoln), Emily Hausmann (Columbus), and Jessica Weickert (Beatrice) all earned the honor at the end of the season. In addition, Pribnow and Weickert were named the Heart Women's Golfer of the Week at different points during the 2014-15 season.

Also returning will be sophomores Hannah Baldacci (Norfolk), Cathleen Marsh (Bellevue), and Charleen Marsh (Bellevue).

Newcomers
Three newcomers will be joining the Bobcat team this fall. Emily Whipple (Lincoln) – a Lincoln Southeast High School graduate, Emily Shevlin (Columbus) – a Columbus High School graduate, and Lindsay Harlow (Dawson) – a graduate from Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer (HTRS). As seniors, Shevlin and Harlow both participated in the Nebraska State Activities Association Girls Golf Championships. Shevlin also participated in the state meet during her sophomore and junior years.

Schedule
Peru State will play in five different tournaments/invites this fall.  The 'Cats will first tee it up at the Midland University Invitational at the Fremont Country Club in Fremont on August 31.

In addition, Peru State will participate in the College of St. Mary Invitational, Graceland University Invitational, Nebraska Wesleyan "Pink" Classic, and William Penn University Classic.

Coach Ritchie
Ritchie is excited for the season to get started.  He said, "I am honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to build upon the success that Coach Hahn has brought to the women's golf program."

Continuing, Ritchie added, "I look forward to seeing the girls on the course as I am anticipating a good season. With the leadership of the juniors who have had two previous years of experience, they should be good role models for the entire team."

Ritchie has not coached golf at the collegiate level, but has coached golf at the high school level for 20 years at Falls City, Elkhorn, and Nebraska City.
