School Has Started for PHS Students
By Jill Ehlers
With the beginning of school already started there are many things that are going through our minds to make sure we have our kiddos all set and ready for the school year. What we need to reflect upon and remember that our school buses are carrying our precious children and it’s important to review on safety. Cathy Fick our District OR1 Bus Superintendent wants all to beware of children on the streets, crosswalks, loading and unloading buses. Please do not drive around the bus when the red stop sign is out. For the safety of the children yellow flashing lights on the school bus is a warning that the bus is going to stop. Riding a bus may be new for some of these kids and we need to be aware at all times of our surroundings. Please slow down when driving in school designated areas and when you see buses. We want our children to make it home safely as they are excited to get home and tell their parents about their day so thank you for your help in making our communities safe for the kids.

August 3rd was the recent monthly 150 years celebration event with a Potluck Dinner followed by the Worship Service which included Communion. The meal included pork sliders by Tim Quinn (Thank you, it was yummy), salads, and desserts brought by the congregation. It was also a time to share any garden produce that was brought.
Mark your calendars for September 7th as the next monthly 150 year celebration event. The Evening Concert will include the Bellissimo Bell Choir, and Anne Bremer with Emma Bremer-Faulkner performing starting at 7pm. We will have additional musical talent to share. Keep watch for updates. The communities are invited to listen to the beautiful music.
Otoe County Fair Success
By Jill Ehlers
This years Otoe County Fair was a huge success. I saw lots of 4-H’ers from our community working hard and getting their animals and projects ready to show. This is dedication and a huge amount of work done through out the year for these kids to shine. I’m proud of every single one of these kids that show up and do what they must do to get the job done. 4H doesn’t only prepare our youth with the knowledge to get through obstacles in life, it teaches them how to conquer them. Thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers and leaders that make our county fair happen.
