Palmyra’s Hometown Heros
By Jill Ehlers
I can’t say enough about how excited Palmyra Community Foundation is to share with you about adding Hometown Hero Banners to the towns utility poles to accompany the American Flags around town that we do every summer. With the support of our Palmyra American Legion Post #195 and the Village, PCF has budgeted to have 6 Hometown Hero Banners created this year with hopes of adding additional banners each year as the budge allows. These banners will be up the same time as flags – Memorial Day to Labor Day. If you would like to nominate yourself or a family member, please fill out the form which can either be found on our Palmyra Community Foundation Facebook page or send us an email for the form to be sent out. Email: palmyracommunityfoundation.ne@gmail.com Each service member nominated must live in Palmyra or have lived in Palmyra at some point during their life. If you would like to contribute money towards this amazing project to support PCF in purchasing additional banners, you can send cash or check to Palmyra Community Foundation at: PO Box 38, Palmyra, NE 68418 (memo line: Hometown Hero) or Venmo @PalmyraCommunityFoundation (add note of Hometown Hero). We are so happy to be able to bring this to our community and we are all so thankful for our Hometown Heros.
Warmer Weather Heads Our Way
By Jill Ehlers
It’s important to remember that with warmer weather you will start noticing more people out and about. Please use caution when driving through town and be aware of those out for a walk or riding their bikes. We want to keep Palmyra a place where everyone feels safe and to know that we can all count on each other to protect our village. If you see something, say something and let’s all enjoy the warmer weather to come and take pride in our community. Also, be aware of the rural roads with planting season under way there will be more traffic on the gravel and we ask that everyone slows down and looks twice so that all can make it home safe.
