William “Bill” L. Bottcher, 97 of Syracuse, passed away on January 30, 2023, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. He was born on October 26, 1925, in Syracuse to William F. & Olinda (Finke) Bottcher. Bill graduated from Syracuse High School, where he enjoyed playing football.

On July 27, 1947, Bill married Marcene Aufenkamp at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Syracuse. Bill was a lifelong dairy farmer. He also was a lifelong member of St. John’s and served on the church board numerous times. He was an avid Husker fan and after selling the dairy, he learned to ski, play pin pong and golf. Bill and Marcene also enjoyed traveling across the country. He is survived by his children Sandi (Gary) Nelson, Daniel (Valerie) Bottcher, June (Dick) Morrissey, Beverly (John) Blair; grandchildren Luke Blair, Rachel Blair, Jennifer (Chris) Osten, Jared (Allison) Bottcher, Rob (Sally) Morrissey, 7 great grandchildren; also many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife Marcene Bottcher, his parents, 4 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s UCC in Syracuse. Burial will be at the Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Syracuse Senior Center or Syracuse Library.
