Robert “Barney” L. Doeden, 80 of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was born on March 10, 1942, to Emil & Ruth (Powell) Doeden on their farm near Table Rock, NE. After graduating from high school, Barney served in the Army Reserves. On September 1, 1984, he married Cheryl Smith in Syracuse.

Barney worked as a contractor and farmed around Syracuse. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, bird watching and driving around the countryside looking at the crops and scenery. Also, there was never a bad time to eat strawberry ice cream. Barney loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending all their events.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl Doeden; son Steve (Kayleen) Doeden; daughter Debbie Berner; stepdaughter Lori Berner; grandchildren Dillon (Jessica) Doeden, Brandon (Erin) Doeden, Taylor (Chris) Dankleff, Tyler (Reagan) Berner, Shelby (Alex) Asche, Alyssa Strubel; 10 great grandchildren; brothers Wayne (Sharlene) Doeden, Charles (Cynthia) Doeden, Dale (Lavinia) Doeden; sisters Arlene (Paul) Ramp, Karen (Craig) Spracklin, Dianne (Tim) Kemp; also many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother & sister-in-law Ray & Maryellen Doeden; stepson Jim Ehmen and son-in-law Dave Berner.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fair Center located at 135 Plum St. in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Fusselman Facebook page. No viewing. Burial will follow at the Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
