Delbert E. Peters

Delbert E. Peters passed away on November 23, 2021 at the age of 79. He was born on December 13, 1941 to Peter M. and Esther L. (Ottemann) Peters in Beatrice, Nebraska. Delbert attended grade school in Pickrell and high school in Cook. He went on to earn his mechanic license in Omaha. He worked as a mechanic and as a school bus driver—but most of all, he was a farmer—he put his heart into the work until his retirement in 2008.

He was united in marriage on June 4, 1970 to Glennis Darline (Campbell) at the Tecumseh Courthouse. They were blessed with a daughter, Glennis (Al) Cannon, Cook and a son, Robert, Florida.

Delbert was always willing to help a neighbor. A member of Grace Lutheran Church, he drove the ambulance for the Cook Volunteer Rescue Squad, helped at E&E Meat Processing, helped with snow removal on the town streets, assisted in putting up town Christmas lights, and he was most proud of having donated over eighteen gallons of blood. He will always be remembered by his family as a man who adored his grandchildren and by his community as, simply, a good man.

Delbert is survived by his loving wife Darline; brother-in-law Bob (Vi) Campbell; sister-in-law Joan (Gary) Hill; sister-in-law Carlene Clark; grandchildren Kandi (Trevor) Bilslend and Donovan and Dallas Peters; step grandchildren Brandon, Ryan, and Aaron Cannon; great-grandchildren Lydia and Lily Bilslend; six great-step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mildred Doolittle.
