Nebraska City, Neb. -

The Nebraska City Seniors American Legion baseball team will open Class B state play at 11 a.m. Friday at Wayne.

Lexington, the Area-6 champion, will provide the opposition.

Looking ahead to the second round, Nebraska City looks likely to face Area-3 champion Omaha Roncall. Game time has yet to be announced.

Nebraska City advanced to the state tournament after rallying through the loser's backet at the area tourney. Nebraska City won in the first round against Fairbury before losing to Crete.

Nebraska City came back with wins against Hickman, Auburn, and Beatrice to reach the championship round, then topped Crete in both halves of a Monday doubleheader.

Each of the loser's bracket foes owned regular season wins over Nebraska City.
