The 2018 S-D-A softball team will have experienced athletes coming back plus several young players that Coach Gregg Wiebusch is excited about for the 2018 season.
“With what we have coming back, I’m really excited,” Wiebusch said.  “We have a few young girls that I’m excited about too.”
Last year, the Rockets ended the season with nine wins.  It was a season that the Rockets were competitive and could have possibly squeezed out a few more victories.  “There were two games last year, that I felt we got out played,” Wiebusch said.  “We made a really strong commitment to the weight room this summer, so we can start getting through those six and seven innings and not let games slip away from us.”
This season the Rockets will bring back seven starters and for the first time in awhile, Wiebusch feels that he has two solid pitchers.
Alayna Nannen, who started a majority of the games last year will be in the circle for the Rockets, along with Sydney Wellsandt who put in a lot of work this off season.
Even though summer softball got off to a slow start because of rain outs, Coach Wiebusch said he was proud of the work the girls put in.  “We had good showings everywhere we went, and we were always competitive,” Wiebusch said.
The Rockets opened the season at home against Platteview on Thursday, Aug. 16.
