The  S-D-A boys’ basketball defeated Arlington 54-36 as three Rocket players scored 13 points each on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Syracuse High School gym.
Coach Mark Hrabik said his team responded with a good week of practice after a disappointing loss last week.
“Defense was much improved as we held them (Arlington) to 36 points for the game,” coach Hrabik said.  “Several players stepped up offensively to give us a balanced scoring attack.”
Ben Nannen, Christian Frederick, and Jackson Zastera scored 13 points to lead in scoring.  Other noted scorers were Wil McCoy, seven; Brandon Cavanaugh, five; and Sam Goering, three.
McCoy led in rebounds with 13 and helped keep Arlington off the boards.
Hrabik was pleased on how his team shot free throw. S-D-A finished 19- of-25 from the stripe.
“As a team, we are shooting 75 percent from the free throw line for the season.  That will be a factor in close games as we move through the season,” said Hrabik.
S-D-A will travel to Ashland on Friday, Jan. 19, and will be at Elmwood on Saturday, Jan. 20.  The Rockets will compete in the Conference Tournament next week.
