Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca took a 7-0 lead early before falling 39-7 against Boys Town in season-opening high school football action on Friday night in Omaha.
Quarterback Trevor Brinkman rushed for a short touchdown to put S-D-A in front, but Boys Town answered back with a score of their own.
Boys Town quarterback Tijaih Davis ran a 33-yard touchdown that put the Cowboys ahead going into halftime 13-6.
S-D-A’s defense didn’t seem to have an answer for Davis as he rushed for 158 yards, three touchdowns. He also  threw for two scores.
Scoring continued for Boys Town as they scored three more touchdowns in the third quarter and one in the fourth to win by a final 39-7.
As a team, the Rockets ran the ball for 112 yards on 35 carries.
Brendon Lyon led the Rockets in rushing with  three carries for 30 yards.
Linebacker Christian Fredrick and nose guard Caleb Lefferdink led the  teams in tackles with five. Logan Mueller had ten assisted tackles.
Syracuse will try to rebound at home Friday as they host Fairbury at 7 p.m. “We will get better this week.” said Rockets coach Rick Nordhues.
 “We will get our offense going to help take the pressure off our defense.”
