Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca golfers shot their way to third place during the Douglas County West Invite at the Pines on Wednesday, April 5.
Gretna was the team champ with a score of 351 while Bennington was second at 377. S-D-A shot 382 and Oakland-Craig was fourth at 385. A total of 12 teams recorded scores at the event.
Brendon Lyon, 93, and Grant Hallstrom, 94, scored 11th and 13th place medals respectively.
Other S-D-A shooters were Pierce Agena, 96; Kobe Buller, 99; and Monty Roberts, 100.
“We were very proud of the boys at the Pines in earning third place as a team in a competitive field,” Coaches Sallie and John Agena said in a post tourney statement. “All the boys scored where we needed them to score to place as a team and played well throughout the day.”
Monday action saw the Rockets playing at the Ashland Invite.
Lyon was again a medalist with an 11th place score of 82. Other Rocket scores were Hallstrom, 89; Roberts, 93; Buller, 93; and Agena, 100.
The S-D-A team placed seventh with a score of 357. Platteview was the tourney champs with 319 and Elkhorn Mount Michael was second at 329.
There were 16 teams at the event.
“We fell short as a team and didn't capitalize on our opportunities to score,” the Agenas stated. “We have some work to do to clean up our game and move forward toward future meets.”
In other recent action, three groups of Rocket shooters played in a dual at home against Ashland-Greenwood.
Trevor Hillman, 44; Josh Fishpaw, 47; Blake Zoller, 48; Tristan Lindsey, 53; and Reed Seelhoff, 67, combined to post a team low of 192 at the event.
The second group of Rocket shooters and their scores were Colby Bredemeier, 52; Austin Jensen, 55; Dylan Halouska, 59; Nathan True, 61; and Ethan Wallman, 65.
The third group of Rocket shooters and their scores were Zach Danner, 59; Colton Tompkins, 64; Andrew Thompson, 68; Bailey Pearson, 72; and Garrett Deharsh, 85.
