According to Nebraska City Utilities, wastewater leaked into South Table Creek for about 40 minutes Thursday morning due to "electrical and mechanical failure" at the lift station.Nebraska City Utilities operator Scott Shoemaker said the failure lasted from 9:45 until 10:25 a.m. "Not enough was spilled or released to cause any problems," he said. "Nature will clean it up, because that's what nature does. What our plant does in 50 feet, nature does in 50 miles."
