Eugene Donald Hartman, 79, of Syracuse died at Good Samaritan Center, Syracuse, on July 24, 2010. He was born Jan. 17, 1931 at Firth to Karl and Margaret (Wieskamp) Hartman. He married Karen Harder Nov. 2, 1974 at Martinsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Hartman, of Syracuse; sons Robert Hartman and wife Cindy of Rogers, Ark., and Dale Hartman of Aurora, Colo.; daughters Connie Hartman of San Diego, Calif., and Barbara Mather and husband Rick of Columbus; grandchildren Rick Ammon, Scott Ammon, Chris Ammon, Ryan Hartman, Tracy Hartman, Aysha Tumba, Adam Mather, Shelly Ridler, Stacy Viergutz, Sara Mather and Ronelle Welch; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Earl, Karl, Kenny, Ron and Daryl Hartman; sisters Ethel Dreeszen, Dorothy Kern, Mildred Wheatley, Marlene Schroder and Donna Harshfield; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a truck driver and school bus driver. He enjoyed traveling, camping, playing cards, riding his motor scooter and his pets.
Memorial service was July 27 at Fusselman-Allen-Harvey Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Rev. Curtis Rieger officiating. Cindy Post was organist.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Hartman, Dale Hartman, Connie Hartman, Barbara Mather, Rick Mather, Rick Ammon, Scott Ammon, Chris Ammon, Ryan Hartman, Tracy Hartman, Aysha Tumba, Adam Mather, Shelly Ridler, Stacy Viergutz, Sara Mather, Ronelle Welch; and great-grandchildren Danielle, Ricky, Victoria, Katie, Mackenzie, Spencer, Bryan, Nicole, Brennan, Ashton, Wyatt, Alexis, Jordan, Nolan, Mason and Rylin.
Graveside service will be held at a later time in Silver Ridge Cemetery at Ponca.
Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association, Syracuse Good Samaritan Center or Asera Care Hospice.
