Gary W. Zech, 59, Douglas, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at BryanLGH West, Lincoln. He was born July 25, 1950, at Nebraska City, son of Arthur Zech and Catherine Sand.
A lifelong Douglas resident, Zech was self-employed as an antique marketer. He worked as a bricklayer, electrician, county road worker and an employee of Enron. Zech was an avid animal lover and an excellent dog trainer. His interests included woodworking, helping and spending time with his many friends and family!
Surviving are his mother, Catherine, Douglas; sister and brother-in-law, Julie Adams and Ron Nishimura, Long Beach, Calif.; sisters, Linda, Douglas and Mary Jo Pankoke, Lincoln; sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Steve Leising, Roca; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Becky, Eagle; brother, David, Douglas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Zech was preceded by his father.
The rosary was Tuesday, Feb. 9, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Douglas. The service is Wednesday, Feb. 10, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Douglas. Father Chris Barak will officiate. Interment will be at the church cemetery south of Douglas.
Pallbearers are: Randy Steinkuhler, Sam and Rob Focken, Clarence Rule, Al Nicholson, Les Agena, Dean Young and Kenny Shriner.
Barb Neels is organist. There will be congregational singing.
Memorials are suggested to Douglas Fire & Rescue or Feline Friends in Nebraska.
