
Ricky R. Swanson, 46, of Otoe, died Jan. 28, 2010 at VA Regional Hospital in Omaha. He was born Feb. 17, 1963 at Bellevue to Robert A. Swanson and JoAnn Krumweide Egr. He married Debra Krogh July 6, 1991 in Elkhorn, Neb.
He is survived by his wife, Debra, of Otoe; children Ricky and wife Jinni of Omaha, and Jessa and Gage Swanson at home; parents Robert and Kathy Swanson of Bridgeport, Texas; brothers Daniel Swanson and wife Kathy of Nebraska City, Bob Swanson and wife Jan of Lincoln, and David Swanson and wife Lisa of Weeping Water; parents-in-law Darrel and Carol Krogh of Syracuse; brothers-in-law Scott Niday and wife Kim of Pittsburgh, Pa., Dave Nannen and wife Karin of Blair, and Robert and Lora Wilkinson of Otoe; 12 nephews; six nieces; and many other relatives.
He was preceded by his mother and step-father, JoAnn and Jerry Krumweide.
Ricky Swanson lived in Omaha formerly and in Otoe for the last 14 years. He was a self-employed contractor who worked in home remodeling.
He was a member of the Mid-Otoe County VFW #5547 of Syracuse and Otoe Town Board. He enjoyed camping, hiking, playing with his kids and being with family, rock climbing, canoeing, spending summer evenings on the patio with friends and family, computer networking, computer technology and home remodeling projects.
He served in the U.S. Army 1982-1987.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse with Fr. Michael Stec officiating. Rosary is Sunday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. at Fusselman-Wymore Funeral Home Chapel in Syracuse.
Pallbearers are Doug Hillman, Dale Lewis, Craig Boldt, Jeff Kastens, Todd Ross, Gary Hillman and Tommy Swanson. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse.
Mid-Otoe County VFW #5547 of Syracuse will provide full military rites.
Visitation is Saturday, Jan. 30, noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 31, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The casket will be open one hour before services at the church.
