Marcene M. Burr, 74, of Syracuse, died Feb. 25, 2010 at Community Memorial Hospital in Syracuse. She was born Sept. 23, 1935 in Nebraska City to Sterling and Caroline (Heng) Kreifels. She married Allan H. Burr on April 14, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paul.
She is survived by husband Allan of Syracuse; children Kent and wife Michelle Burr of Round Rock, Texas, Andrew and wife Teresa Burr, Dunbar, Charles and wife Kathy Burr of Holdrege, Lynne and husband Thomas Albin of Lincoln, Thomas and wife Pamela Burr of Syracuse, and Michael and wife Lisa Burr of Marthasville, Mo.; 21 grandchildren: Nicholas, Melanie and Tyler Burr; Matthew, Courtney, Elizabeth and Jacob Burr; Emily and Erica Joseph; Julianna Burr; Jessica, Zachary, Daniel and Sarah Albin; Johnathon, Shelby, Jeffrey and Jeremy Burr; and Kaleb and Isaac Burr; four sisters, Marilyn Neels and husband Orlin of Dunbar, Jean Wurtele and husband Don, Nebraska City, Joyce Kempkes, Lincoln, and Caroline Lechner, Nebraska City; brothers Francis Kreifels and wife Irma of Dunbar and John Kreifels and wife Janet of Lincoln; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded by a son, Phillip Burr.
She formerly lived in rural Dunbar. She was a homemaker and member of St. Paulinus Church in Syracuse and the church’s Altar Society. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, gardening, quilting, and working on the genealogy tree of the Heng and Burr families.
Funeral Mass was March 1 at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse with Fr. Michael Stec officiating.
Organist was Barb Neels. She and Kay Kreifels provided vocal music.
Her grandchildren were pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Burial was at Park Hill Cemetery, Syracuse.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
