Donald Lewis, 79, of Unadilla died at Community Memorial Hospital in Syracuse on Aug. 16, 2010. He was born Dec. 19, 1930 at Wewoka, Okla., to James Thomas and Orphie Fanning Lewis. He married Jane Lemka on May 5, 1957 at Unadilla Methodist Church.
He is survived by wife Jane, children Linda and husband Keith Liesemeyer, Betty and husband Steve Vodicka, Clay and wife Diane Lewis, David Lewis, and Bev and husband Don Anderson, all of Unadilla; grandchildren Traci and husband Gary Johnson of Bellevue, Mike Vodicka of Dorchester, Amy Vodicka of Unadilla, Marvin Vodicka of Unadilla, Mindy Liesemeyer of Omaha, Kirk Liesemeyer of Unadilla, Dan Vodicka of Imperial, Kirsten Lewis of Unadilla, Leah Lewis of Unadilla, Jon Vodicka of Unadilla, Corryn Lewis of Unadilla, and Obadiah Lewis of Unadilla; seven great grandchildren; brother Glenn and Leona Lewis, of Unadilla; sisters-in-law Leota Krivkopick of Santa Ana, Calif., and Vi and Jim Poole of Murdock; brother-in-law Leonard Lemka of Unadilla; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by sister Edna.
He worked as a service station attendant. He was a member of 35 Unadilla Fire Department, Community Fellowship and American Legion Post 100. He was a softball coach and avid outdoorsman. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19, at United Methodist Church in Unadilla with Rev. Tony Dawson officiating.
Pallbearers are Kirk Liesemeyer, Daniel Vodicka, Jon Vodicka, Mike Vodicka, Marvin Vodicka and Obadiah Lewis.
Honorary pallbearers are Leonard Lemka, Leonard Isaacs, Tom Lewis, Jerry Lewis, Kim Poole, Kippar Poole, Craig Lemka, Steve Krivokopick, and Garry Krivokopick.
Burial is at Unadilla Cemetery.
Special music is by Kirsten Lewis. There will be congregational singing.
Visitation is Wednesday, Aug. 18, from 12-9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.
