Opal Dorothy Jaspring, 91, of Syracuse, died July 27, 2010 in Syracuse. She was born April 9, 1919 in Kansas City, Mo., to Gus and Lena (Kastens) Thiele. She married Ralph Jaspring Dec. 20, 1938 in Syracuse.
She is survived by children Norman and wife Pat Jaspring of Syracuse and Janice and Hank Potthoff of Carroll, Iowa; grandchildren Mike and Beck Jaspring of Lennox, S.D., Michele and Darin Ziemann of Syracuse, Tony Potthoff of Carroll, Tina and Mike Curtis of Carroll, and Marci and Scott Lorenzen of Omaha; great-grandchildren Christa, Rachel, Brittany, Daniel, Michaela and David Jaspring, Taya Curtis and Casey Lorenzen.
She was preceded by husband Ralph in 2009.
She was a farm wife. She enjoyed growing African Violets, needlework, cross stitch, quilting, fishing, camping, and playing cards with the Kastens cousins once a month.
Funeral services are Thursday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse with Rev. Paul Coen officiating. Cindy Post is organist.
Pallbearers are her grandsons and honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters.
Visitation is Wednesday, noon to 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
