Ruth Rose Doeden, 88, died July 8, 2010 at Belle Terrace Care Center in Tecumseh. She was born Oct. 6, 1921 to Johnny and Margaret (Walker) Powell in rural Sterling. She married Emil Walter Doeden on March 8, 1941 in Rock Port, Mo.

She taught in several one-room schools and worked for Campbell Soup in Tecumseh. She was a busy wife and mother. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, quilting, crossword puzzles and crafts.

She is survived by sons Robert “Barney” and wife Cheryl of Syracuse, Ray of Unadilla, Wayne and wife Sharlene of Yucaipo, Calif., Charles and wife Cynthia of Valley and Dale and wife Lavinia of Cook; daughters Arlene and husband Paul Ramp of Friend, Karen and husband Craig Spracklin of Valley, Dianne and husband Tim Kemp of Hills, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Darrell Powell of Ashland; sister Darlene Drake of Lexington, Ky.; sister-in-law Jonnie Powell of Yucaipo; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded by her husband, daughter-in-law Maryellen Doeden; grandson Mitchell and brother Richard Powell.

Funeral services were July 12 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (Osage) Cook with Pastor Curtis Rieger officiating. Organist was Julie Hogencamp.

Pallbearers were Steve Doeden, Jim Ehmen, Matt Doeden, Brian Doeden, Mike Doeden, Scott Doeden, Doug Ramp, Brad Ramp, Andrew Spracklin, Jonathan Newcomb, Ben Doeden and Jeff Kemp.

Honorary pallbearers were Debra Berner, Lori Berner, Tammy Stewart, Emily Ramp, Kristine Roberts and Samantha Kemp.

Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

Fusselman Allen Harvey Funeral Home in Syracuse was in charge of arrangements.
