Marvin Wellensiek, 84, of Syracuse died at Community Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010. He was born Aug. 14, 1925 in Lincoln to Ida Wellensiek.
He married Leela Mandery Aug. 17, 1952 at St. Paul's U.C.C. Cook. She preceded him in death in 1995. He then married Jean Hackler on Oct. 7, 1995 in Grove, Okla.
He is survived by wife Jean Wellensiek of Syracuse; daughter Debra Kay Bowman of California; step-daughters Debbie and husband Keenan Knopik of Plattsmouth, Phyllis Peterson of Omaha, and Jennyfer and husband Glen Foss of Cook; twin sister Margaret Mann of Houston, Texas; and nephews Greg and wife Michelle Mann of Syracuse, John and wife Deanna Mann and family of Houston, and Jamie and wife Shannon Mann and family of Houston.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Aug. 7, at 3 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage), with burial at the church cemetery at a later time.
Honorary pallbearers are his nephews and grandchildren Brandon Rieke, Megan Tellez, Michael Rieke, Kameron Foss and Erik Foss.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to his church.
